I was digging through my email and every now and then one catches my eye. The one recently (it was from August, sorry!) was the two new server models from Lenovo. Yeah, Lenovo.
Before I get into the models, a couple of notes. This is a very competitive space. Dell and HP are so powerful here, and there may be a good question of why this would be a good market decision. In terms of the market, there is an incredible barrier to share penetration with HP having a better product than Dell and larger market share.
So, what is Lenovo bringing? ThinkServer RD430 and RD330 models are now available.
This 1U model starts at USD $1,129 and has a capacity of up to 2 CPU sockets. Nothing really stands out to me on the model other than the enhanced power management, SmartGrid.
This is the 2U edition, and starts at USD $1,429. It is a 2 CPU socket system as well. I also am intrigued by the SmartGrid technology available on this model as well.
I’ve reached out to the folks at Lenovo to get the scoop and see what is to be seen with this server model, and hopefully I can give more info on it! Stay tuned!!
